“The time in between my clapping is Ma.”
/Miyazaki Hayao/
We love drawing inspiration from everyday experiences and creating a creative environment around us that nurtures and encourages continuous creation. It was in this space that the idea for *notes of ma.* was born—a way to share a small piece of this place with others. We’re constantly seeking new creators to collaborate with, striving to design notebooks that inspire others to create, reflect, and take a moment to pause.
We pay special attention to the quality of the papers we use and ensure they are produced in an eco-friendly manner. The paper industry consumes tremendous amounts of energy, water, and plant-based materials, so we exclusively source products from manufacturers who prioritize environmentally conscious and sustainable production.
Each of our notebooks is crafted from acid-free, archival-quality paper, preserving the notes or drawings on *notes of ma.* pages without degradation for many years.
Favini Crush and Remake:
Favini, an Italian company and one of Europe’s leading paper manufacturers, has been producing high-quality papers since 1736. For over 30 years, they’ve been experimenting with recycling agricultural waste, leading to the creation of the Crush and Remake product lines.
Crush papers utilize agricultural waste from crop cultivation and processing to replace wood pulp, incorporating residues from citrus, grapes, cherries, lavender, olives, coffee, and kiwi. The entire process is powered exclusively by renewable energy, minimizing Crush paper’s environmental impact. Remake, another upcycling product line, repurposes leather manufacturing waste with the same intent that Crush applies to plant waste.
These papers carry FSC™ and ECOenergy certifications.
Olin Design and Colors:
When selecting the inner pages, we focused on three main criteria. First, we wanted a pleasant writing experience with any writing instrument, so we chose a lightly textured, uncoated paper with a tactile feel. Secondly, archival quality was essential, as anything we write or draw is meant to be preserved for years, even decades. And most importantly, we prioritized a sustainably and responsibly produced paper, as inner pages require the highest volume.
Olin papers, designed by Antalis, aim to provide a versatile, sustainably produced premium range. These acid-free, archival-quality papers are FSC and PEFC certified and meet all environmental standards.
